ACC Greenhaven Terrace provides independent living and assisted living apartments to older adults. Located across the street from ACC's main campus, it provides residents easy access to all of ACC's classes and activities. Residents also can take ACC Rides. ACC Senior Services transportation program (ACC Rides) is a lifeline that provides door-to-door transportation to seniors in the community, providing a measure of independence for people who are unable to drive or use public transport. In this role, volunteers will transport seniors to various programs, medical appointments and social outings operating an ACC vehicle (either a mini van or small bus) within a 10-mile driving distance of ACC Senior Services location at 7334 Park City Drive located in the Greenhaven/Pocket area.

We are seeking volunteers who are social and enjoy playing games with others! This opportunity will be held every Friday from 12:00pm to 3:30pm, although we can be flexible. We are asking volunteers to commit to a minimum of three (3) shifts. Set up: 12:00pm - 2:00pm Bingo: 2:00 - 3:00pm Social: 3:00 - 3:30pm

The purpose of ACC’s CHAT (Conversations Helping Adults Thrive) Program is to provide seniors with socialization and companionship. The program aims to promote regular social connection, improve access to resources, and combat loneliness for participants who may be isolated, living alone, or in need of regular communication. Volunteers will engage with participants over the phone, offering companionship, emotional support, and monitoring their general well-being. This service is available Monday-Friday between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Friendly Visitor/In-Home Respite Program provides respite support for caregiving families to maintain and improve their quality of life. Volunteers offer caregivers an opportunity to take a break (respite) from their caregiving duties and serve as friendly visiting companions to older adults.

ACC Senior Services’ vision is to create an array of services to help older adults sustain their independence and lifestyle. As a Front Desk Assistant, volunteers will welcome visitors, answer incoming calls, and direct seniors to their clubs or classes. You are right in the middle of the action, and play a key role in our vision by connecting callers and visitors with the appropriate resources offered by our organization.

The Lifelong Learning and Wellness Program supports seniors maintaining their lifestyle and independence through a variety of classes, from exercise to learning new skills! You can help this program by volunteering as an Office Assistant, and aid program staff with daily administrative tasks.

SEP is hosting a picnic with Society for the Blind on Wednesday, June 25th from 9am - 2pm. We are asking for volunteers who will be paired with visually impaired participants for walks and later assist with games. The walk will take place at Southside Park, where volunteers will receive a quick training on how to be a Sighted Guide. Following the walk, volunteers will assist with games at Society for the Blind. Volunteers will be responsible for their own transportation to the park and to Society for the Blind.

Senior Escort Program staff members will take requests from participants and assign them to the appropriate volunteer. Trained volunteers will meet participants at a public site or at their homes and escort them, on-foot, to other public sites within the greater Sacramento area. Service will be provided Monday - Saturday between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. There will be no fees for such services, and the volunteers will not be allowed to provide transportation services for the participants. All escorts are volunteers and will not receive any compensation for the services they provide. Volunteers will support seniors through the following activities: Meet participants at a public site, such as their home or store, and escort them to other public sites within the greater Sacramento area. Examples of services include going for a walk, escorting a senior to an appointment, going grocery shopping, etc. Ensure that the participant safely leaves the site or returns home.

We offer older adults a safe place for some fun, casual activities and getting to know others in the area! We will have coffee and tea, snacks, and activities like board games, puzzles, education, and some special outings. We are looking for volunteers who can occasionally go walking with seniors before Social Hour, set up tables and chairs, then help pass out waters and snacks during club meetings.
